On April 30, 2018, the United States Sentencing Commission submitted amendments to the federal sentencing guidelines with an effective date of November 1, 2018. See Reader-Friendly Version of Amendments and Official Text of Amendments. The amendments cover the following seven substantive areas, plus miscellaneous and technical amendments:
- Tribal Issues
- Bipartisan Budget Act
- Synthetic Drugs (e.g., fentanyl and fentanyl analogues, cathinones and synthetic cannabinoids)
- Marihuana Equivalency
- Illegal Reentry Guideline Enhancements
- Acceptance of Responsibility
- Alternatives to Incarceration
