On April 30, 2018, the United States Sentencing Commission submitted amendments to the federal sentencing guidelines with an effective date of November 1, 2018.  See Reader-Friendly Version of Amendments and Official Text of Amendments.  The amendments cover the following seven substantive areas, plus miscellaneous and technical amendments:

  1. Tribal Issues 
  2. Bipartisan Budget Act 
  3. Synthetic Drugs (e.g., fentanyl and fentanyl analogues, cathinones and synthetic cannabinoids)
  4. Marihuana Equivalency 
  5. Illegal Reentry Guideline Enhancements
  6. Acceptance of Responsibility
  7. Alternatives to Incarceration

The Training Division provides resources on controlled substances, immigration and offenses involving non-citizens, and a variety of searchable program materials and videos related to the sentencing guidelines, as well as sentencing resources to help you get the best possible sentence for your client.
