Today, Attorney General Sessions issued a press release announcing several Department of Justice actions to reduce what he described as “the rising tide of violent crime in America.”  Along with reinvigorating Project Safe Neighborhoods, the Attorney General issued a memo directing United States Attorneys to implement an enhanced violent crime reduction program.  In addition,  the Attorney General announced Justice initiates to reduce violent crime by (1) adding 40 Assistant United States Attorneys to 20 offices to focus on violent crime; (2) awarding more Cops on the Street grants to local law enforcement; (3) providing seed money to locally-focused gang investigations; and other programs identified in the press release.
