On Monday, September 28, 2020, the Federal Bureau of Investigation released its 2019 crime statistics, which show an overall drop in crime nationwide for the third-straight year (press release available here). "In 2019, violent crime was down 0.5% from the 2018 number. Property crimes also dropped 4.1%, marking the 17th consecutive year the collective estimates for these offenses declined."

A city-by-city breakdown of crime for 2018 is availabile here, and the 2019 breakdown is available here. The FBI issued a caution about the crime data coming in at the local levels. Lists comparing cities and counties "do not provide insight into the numerous variables that shape crime in a given state, county, city, town, tribal area or region," the FBI said in a statement.
