Darryl Barwick was executed by lethal injection Wednesday nearly 40 years after his 1986 murder conviction. Mr. Barwick apologized "to the victim's family, [and] to my family" in his final statement. He added, "And another thing I would like to say, the state of Florida needs to show some kind of compassion and kindness for each other with so many kids in prison, there are 14 and 15year-olds serving life sentences."  Florida Governor Ron DeSantis signed Mr. Barwick's death warrant last month.  Mr. Barwick's execution was the third in Florida this year, and the state's 102nd since the reinstatement of the death penalty in 1976.
