New Model Jury Instructions Regarding Social Media Use

The use of social media by jurors pose many litigation challenges and has a direct impact on the defendant's right to a fair trial. A federal Judiciary committee has issued a new set of model jury instructions (pdf) that federal judges may use to deter jurors from using social media to research or communicate about cases.

The new instructions update a similar version issued in 2012.
