All in-person jury trials and court-officiated naturalization ceremonies in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Indiana have been put on hold due to the state's ongoing COVID-19 surge. The Chief District Judge made the announcement Friday, putting the suspension in place until at least Jan. 25, 2021 (article available here).

Indiana is in the midst of another surge in coronavirus cases. COVID-19-related deaths, hospitalizations and newly confirmed infections have soared in recent weeks.

The suspension on in-person trials applies to all divisions of the court. Court proceedings can continue by telephone or video teleconference.
